Some additional milling will be done this weekend in downtown Gainesville. Crews are milling the edges of FM 51 (California Street) from FM 372 (Grand Ave.) to I-35. There is a portion of pavement that still needs to be removed. Flaggers will be used to get traffic around the moving operation. But residents should expect delays. Please avoid the area if possible this Sunday, October 27, 2013.
The second phase of the work will be to overlay California St. However, this operation requires mild temperatures and no rain. TxDOT is working with the contractor to possibly reschedule the overlay. Engineers do not want to leave California Street rough from milling any longer than necessary. And with so few Sundays left until cooler weather sets in, we are exploring the options of overlaying on days other than Sunday.
