Due to the flooding within the last two months we have experienced an excess of manganese in the surface water the city is treating at the water plant.
City personnel have been in contact with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on this matter and TCEQ representatives have responded with there being no known health concerns with excess manganese in drinking water.
City personnel are flushing the system to help clear the tinted water out of the main lines and ask that if you experience “tinted” or “reddish” water to flush your faucets, showers and or bathtubs to help with the removal of tinted water. If you experience tinted water be sure to flush both hot and cold water at each faucet.
A time frame is not known as of now but City personnel are hoping to have this resolved as quickly as possible.
Please beware of an intensification or increase of tinted water when using bleach or chlorine base additives to the water for cleaning purposes.
