Water Meter Change Out

PMI Employees

The City of Gainesville has hired a contractor to install new radio read water meters beginning the week of October 9, 2017.  525 meters will be installed in the following three areas: west of Grand Avenue to Taylor Street, south of Hwy 82 to Main Street; east of Taylor Street to Wine Street from south of California Street to the Home Grown Hero Walking Trail; and south of Broadway Street to California, from Grand Avenue to Edison Drive.

Professional Meter Installers, Inc. (PMI) employees will be changing the meters out and will be in identifiable uniforms and vehicles.  We have included a photo of their attire and logo on a vehicle for your reference.  There will be no additional cost for the meters to customers and no payment is due at the time the meters are installed.  The City has budgeted funds to pay for the project.  If you are requested to make payment, please notify the City of Gainesville immediately at (940) 668-4500.

The work is estimated to take fifteen minutes per meter.  Water service will be interrupted at your home during this time.  PMI employees will be knocking on your door prior to beginning installation; however, it is not necessary that you be home.

The work will take several weeks and we appreciate your patience during the process.
