Notice of Tax Revenue Increase

The City of Gainesville conducted public hearings on August 16, and September 6, 2016 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of the City of Gainesville from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 4.2710 percent.

The total tax revenue raised last year at last year’s tax rate of $0.705030 for each $100 of taxable value was $6,460,178.

The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax rate of $0.722540 per $100 of taxable value, excluding tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year, is $6,736,093.

The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax of $0.722540 per $100 of taxable value, including tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year, is $6,797,463.55.

The City Council of the City of Gainesville is scheduled to vote on the tax rate that will result in that tax increase at a public meeting to be held on September 19, 2017 at City Hall, 200 South Rusk Street, Gainesville, TX 76240, at 6:30 p.m.


Notice of Public Hearing on Budget FY 2017-2018

The City of Gainesville held a Public Hearing at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at City Hall, 200 South Rusk, to consider the Proposed Budget for the City of Gainesville for Fiscal Year 2017-2018.

This budget will raise more revenue from property taxes than last year's budget by an amount of $278,823 which is a 4.2% increase from last year's budget. The property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year is $60,840.

The Gainesville City Council will consider and take action on adoption of the Budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 at its regular meeting on September 19, 2017.
