Animal Encounters

Please note: All encounters are weather permitting. Prepayment is required at the time of booking for select encounters, read descriptions for more details 

Giraffe Encounter

$7 per participant - all participants must pay for a giraffe encounter to enter the giraffe deck.

Giraffe feedings is from 10:30 AM -11:00 AM Monday - Sunday weather permitting

Encounters are available for purchase at the Giraffe Feeding Deck cash, debit/credit  accepted. No reservation required.

 Flamingo Encounter

Flamingo Encounters starts promptly at 10:00 AM. Please plan to arrive before that time to purchase admission tickets and your flamingo feeding encounter. Flamingo feeding can accommodate up to 5 people. All participants must be ages 8 & older. Closed toed shoes required. Flamingo feeding is $20 per person.


Due to the limited number of slots available daily, reservations are required. Reservations can be made by calling 940-668-4539 or emailing giftshop@cogtx.org

Capybara Encounter 

Capybara starts promptly at 11:30am and 1:30pm. Please plan to arrive before that time to purchase admission tickets and sign waivers for the encounter. Capybara feeding can accommodate up to 4 people per day, per time slot. All participants must be ages 8 & older. Closed toed shoes are required. Capybara feeding is $35 per person.

 Tortoise Encounter



Tortoise Encounters starts promptly at 1:00 PM. Please plan to arrive before that time to purchase admission tickets. This encounter can accommodate up to 4 people. All ages are welcome to enjoy this encounter. Tortoise feeding is $20 per person.

Wetland to Woodland 


Get ready for a one-of-a-kind zoo adventure! Your journey begins at the Flamingo Exhibit, where you’ll explore the vibrant world of wetland wildlife. Next, make your way to our Barn Owl Mews for an unforgettable, up-close encounter with Kara, our beloved barn owl animal ambassador. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

Please plan to arrive before that time to purchase admission tickets. Wetland to Woodland encounter can accommodate up to 2 people. This encounter is reserved for adults only. Closed toed shoes required. Wetland to woodland encounter is $125 per person.
